Since 2010, a diamond trader in India has been paying for mass
weddings that allow hundreds of women to get married per year. He describes
himself as a “foster father” to the women who wouldn’t be able to afford a
wedding themselves. He also gives them all expensive gifts and promises to help
them with post-marriage expenses.
